Improvements at Strathan
Despite some very poor weather, a successfull work party was held at Strathan at the beginning of April. The bothy now has a new window frame and glass in the middle room and pine cladding on an interior wall in the "best" room. In addition, rotten wood was removed from the exterior door frame, a new roof was put on the peat store, interior walls and ceilings were painted, shelves erected and old corrugated iron sheets and other unsightly objects were removed from around the bothy. In other words, this was a typical small work party!! It is also worth recording that three of the volunteers, a family from Kent, had their travel expenses paid through the Wave of Friendship scheme (see recent Newsletters for details of the scheme). The Spears family have made a video presentation of the work party which is available on You Tube....to see, just type in Strathan workparty-Maintenance.
